The Philippines, especially susceptible to climate extremes, has experienced a rise in the occurrence of severe rainfall events, presenting considerable dangers to communities. This escalating threat emphasizes the necessity for sophisticated systems to track and evaluate rainfall trends, facilitating improved disaster risk mitigation, city planning, and sustainable development approaches.

A team of BSIT students from Central Mindanao University has created an innovative solution utilizing Python, Flask, and natural language processing (NLP). Their system emphasizes the analysis of real-time and past precipitation data to provide useful insights. By utilizing technologies such as regex for data parsing and APIs for weather integration, the system efficiently interprets intricate rainfall data. Its intuitive Flask-based interface guarantees accessibility for a range of stakeholders, including farmers and city planners.

The initiative highlights the significance of utilizing technology for climate resilience. Thanks to its capacity to handle both structured and unstructured data, the system supports informed decision-making, whether it involves enhancing agricultural water use or incorporating rainfall trends into infrastructure planning.
